Three-time MVP Nikola Jokic endures a 'heartbreaking' knee injury.
Triple NBA MVP Jokic endured a "heartbreaking" knee injury as the Nuggets fell by a score of 147-123 at the Miami Heat.
The star player sustained the injury towards the end of the second quarter following an accidental coming together with fellow Nugget Spencer Jones.
Jones came down on the foot of the MVP, who promptly fell to the ground holding his leg.
The star, who is leading the NBA season in rebounds and dimes, recorded 21 points and eight assists in the game before incurring the problem.
The player is scheduled for an scan on Tuesday to determine the extent of the injury.
"Immediately, he realized he was hurt," stated Denver head coach Adelman.
"Injuries are part of the game. Any player who gets hurt, that's tough to see, especially somebody as important as him. More information will come on Tuesday."
"The team will adjust as a team. Of course, currently, I'm more concerned primarily about Jokic personally and the frustration of facing a situation of that nature."
